Another title for Huthwaite Boxing Gym’s Marcus Ellis

A couple of weeks after winning the 70kg English title in the National Junior Championships in RotherhamMarcus Ellis takes time out to talk to Jack Fletcher about his amateur career to date and what it’s like to be ranked the country’s Number 1 in his weight category.

Four times National Champion and a European Medallist, the 16-year old who lives in Worksop took up boxing at the age of six and has trained at Huthwaite Boxing Gym since turning 12.

With 29 wins out of 36 fights under his belt, Marcus thanks everyone who’s helped him on the way with a special mention for England coach Dale Mcphilbin, talks about his plans for the next 12 months – “I just want to keep winning” – and his aim of joining the Scott Calow Stable of professional boxers by the time he’s 19 or 20…
