Established in 1948, home to Huthwaite Boxing Club and the place where Scott himself first discovered boxing at the age of ten, Huthwaite Boxing Gym must surely qualify for its own title, that of one of the oldest gyms in Nottinghamshire!
Located on Columbia Street, the gym is open from 6pm to 7pm for Juniors (aged 8 to 16) and from 7pm to 8pm for Seniors (aged 16-plus) on Mondays and Wednesdays, offering a mix of boxing techniques and general fitness training.
Training sessions also take place every Tuesday, from 5.30pm to 6.30pm for Juniors and from 6.30pm to 7.30pm for Seniors.
Classes are held on Fridays unless sparring sessions or shows are taking place, and personal training sessions can also be booked at the gym, subject to availability.
Working alongside Scott, who now devotes all his time to training the professionals, is head coach Jordan Turner, a former pro boxer himself who trains the gym’s young amateurs.
Like Scott, Jordan began his boxing career at HBG, racking up 30 amateur bouts between 2008 and 2014 before he turned professional and went on to have a further 11 fights.
Turning his attention from fighting to coaching, he achieved his England Boxing Level 1 qualification in 2017, followed by the Level 2 accreditation in 2018.
